Bright Young Things

Bright Young Things
By Anna Godbersen
Harper, 2010. 389 pgs. Young Adult

Cordelia and Letty are too big for their small Ohio farm town. So after Cordelia’s wedding, she and Letty secretly board the train for New York City. Letty believes the getaway is for her to realize her dream of being a star on the stage, but orphaned Cordelia has her own hidden dream of finding her long-lost father, a notorious bootlegger. Astrid, already a New York socialite, seemingly has everything a young girl could want, but struggles with her relationships with her boyfriend and mother. These three girls follow their dreams in 1929 New York City, amid the flappers and the bootleggers of the time. Although not as delicious as her Luxe series, Godbersen gives readers another frothy series set in New York City.
