The Dark Game: True Spy Stories

The Dark Game: True Spy Stories
By Paul B. Janeczko
Candlewick Press, 2010. 248 pgs. Young Adult Nonfiction

Spies and spying is such a fascinating topic. Why else would we have so many movies, TV shows, and novels? In The Dark Game, the author presents the evolution of American spying and espionage. The book covers from the Revolutionary War, where the colonists just may have won their freedom by out spying the British, to its peak during the Cold War. There are also break out sections on gray pages that cover interesting spy topics such as invisible ink, WWII Navajo and Choctaw code talkers, and spy gadgets and gizmos.

This is a quick and easy way to get into the history of spying in America. I breezed through this book and would recommend it to anyone interested in the topic.
